Luke Easton, a recovering alcoholic who returns to his small New Mexico hometown to take on the role of sheriff. His appointment irks his old friend and now deputy, John Sites, who feels passed over for the job. Their uneasy partnership is put to the test when they investigate the death of a mysterious woman. The trail begins with the discovery of a suicide victim named Cressman in an SUV, who has a bag of stolen money from a drug cartel and a photo of the dead woman on his phone.
