It picks up after the events of the first movie, where both Ne Zha and his friend Ao Bing have sacrificed their physical bodies and now exist as spirits. Ne Zha’s mentor, Taiyi Zhenren, attempts to use a sacred lotus to create new bodies for them, but Ao Bing’s body is destroyed in the process.
